Top Sperm Quality: Mediterranean Diet

The researchers analyzed data from studies that have investigated the Association with male fertility diet. Researchers found an inverse relationship between low sperm quality and a healthy diet.

Under a healthy diet meant a diet with high levels of nutrients (fatty acids omega-3, vitamins E, C, D, folic acid, beta-carotene, selenium, zinc, cryptoxantine, lycopene) and low levels of saturated fatty acids and TRANS fats.

The experts found that fish, seafood, poultry, whole grains, vegetables, fruits, dairy products with low fat content has a positive impact on the quality of sperm. And processed meat, soy products, potatoes, fatty dairy products, cheese, coffee, alcohol, sugary drinks and sweets reduced sperm quality.


Scientists came to the conclusion that the transition to a healthy diet, e.g. Mediterranean diet can significantly increase the chances of men for paternity.
